SZSE Holds the 100th Training for Independent Directors of Listed Companies

On March 12, SZSE held the 100th training for the independent directors of listed companies, which attracted nearly 200 people from 150 companies. The training has not only promoted the implementation of the independent director system, but also witnessed the continuously standardized development of China's capital markets.

 

In 2001, the CSRC issued the Guidelines for the Introduction of Independent Directors into Listed Companies, which marks the officially launch of independent director system in China. SZSE held the first independent director training in 2002, and has so far trained 24,000 person-times. With the increase in the number of listed companies in China, the market places higher requirements on the participation of independent directors in corporate governance, and the corresponding training demand also grows stronger. Since 2016, the training center for venture enterprises of SZSE has held more than 10 trainings each year to meet the market demand, helping independent directors perform their duties and better participate in corporate governance.

 

SZSE's past training courses for independent directors were carefully designed and covered hot market topics such as the latest situation in the supervision of listed companies, independent directors' duties and obligations, M&A market overview and development trends, strategic management of finance, cases of law violations in the securities market, and typical governance cases of listed companies. The 100th training also let the participants to visit SZSE's listing hall and Financial Museum to enable the trainees to understand the history of the capital market and SZSE's reform and innovation process, which will help the independent directors exercise functions more effectively and play their role.

 

An SZSE officer said that independent directors play an irreplaceable role in optimizing the corporate governance structure, improving the standard operation level, and safeguarding small and medium-sized investors' legitimate rights and interests. As an organizer of the market, SZSE will further better the service system, improve the service level, and carry out rich training activities in line with the needs of market participants, guide market participants to actively participate in corporate governance, so as to jointly strengthen investors' trust in listed companies, improve the quality of listed companies, and promote the continuous and healthy development of listed companies.
