SZSE held the 2nd China-Bangladesh Capital Market Cooperation Seminar and launched the market coordination mechanism with Dhaka Stock Exchange

Date: 2019-05-06

The 2nd China-Bangladesh Capital Market Cooperation Seminar, jointly hosted by Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE), Dhaka Stock Exchange of Bangladesh (DSE) and Bangladesh ICT Division, etc., was successfully held in Shenzhen on May 6, 2019. The seminar, focused on emerging sectors such as information technology and digital economy, featured in-depth discussions on China-Bangladesh financial market cooperation and investment opportunities in Bangladesh in the background of integration of development strategies. Nearly 150 representatives from listed companies of Chinese and Bangladeshi stock exchanges, entrepreneurs, investment institutions and financial institutions joined the seminar.

Currently, as China is deeply integrated with Bangladesh’s Digital Bangladesh Vision 2021, bilateral cooperation in technological and business-model innovation is developing rapidly with a number of new growth cooperation areas taking shape. Since joining DSE as a strategic investor in September 2018, the SZSE-led Chinese consortium, made up of Shenzhen and Shanghai stock exchanges, has been enhancing sustainable business and technology cooperation, adding new channels to advance China-Bangladesh capital formation, and exploring new models for the economic development of China and Bangladesh. The seminar aims to promote the experience exchange of the Chinese consortium and DSE, explore beneficial methods for China-Bangladesh financial technology cooperation, provide more convenient channels for the bilateral exchange of capital market information, and fulfill the needs for mutual business cooperation.

SZSE and DSE jointly launched the Bangladesh Window on the V-Next platform. The Bangladesh Window will facilitate Bangladeshi listed companies to explore strategic partnership, seek business collaboration, and diversify business and technology channels in China. The two bourses will give full play to their roles as capital market organizers to promote Chinese and Bangladeshi market participants to jointly build cooperation network and share resource channels. The cooperation is expected to enhance DSE’s market cultivation service, and provide an orderly, transparent and convenient channel for industry and capital connectivity and resource integration between China and Bangladesh. Around 20 Bangladesh enterprises from sectors such as information, communication and modern manufacturing conducted road shows on the V-Next Platform via “onsite meeting + live broadcasting”. The road shows connected these enterprises with Chinese investment institutions and listed companies.

Guided by the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, SZSE will continue to work with Chinese and Bangladeshi capital market participants to fully leverage one another’s strengths and make every effort to foster the cross-border capital service mechanism. SZSE will promote a stable financial service system that keeps risks under control for the Belt and Road Initiative, build up exemplary projects of stock exchange cooperation among emerging markets, and make contributions to the high-quality economic development of China and Bangladesh.
