SZSE advocates the philosophy of public welfare and earnestly performed its social responsibility. It promotes educational programmes to enhance awareness of national conditions and engages in environmental improvement activities. Since 2003, SZSE established an educational and ecological base in Alashan, a desert area in Inner Mongolia. In the last nine years nearly 500 employees have taken part in tree-planting and other environmental enhancement activities in the deserts of Alashan. So far, SZSE has donated a total of RMB 1.8 million (USD 287,007) to the ecological base to finance local environmental improvement programmes. SZSE employees have offered personal donations of RMB 2.7 million (USD 417,171). In February 2011, SZSE invested RMB 5 million (USD 781,250) to establish Alashan Ecology Foundation, a fund for sustainable environmental and social improvement.
